privacy policy
last updated: 12 September 2026. this explains what we collect, why, and your rights.
who we are
WeDance (the “we”) runs online ecstatic dance sessions at wedanceecstatic.com. for data-protection questions, contact hello@wedanceecstatic.com.
what we collect
your email and name (to sign you in and communicate with you); a record of your tickets and subscription; the email addresses you enter when buying tickets for friends; your session attendance; and the reactions or messages you send during a session. messages go only to the host - they are never rebroadcast to other dancers. we do not use a camera and never see or record you.
payments
payments are processed by Stripe. we never see or store your full card details - Stripe does, under its own strict standards. we keep only what we need to recognise your purchase (amount, status, and Stripe identifiers). referral cash payouts are handled manually, in USD via Wise or PayPal on request - so when you request one, we share the minimum needed (your name, payout email/handle and amount) with that payment provider.
transactional emails (sign-in links, confirmations, session reminders) are sent through our email provider (Resend). we use your email to run your account and, only if you opt in, to tell you about upcoming dances.
why we're allowed to (legal bases)
we process your data to perform our contract with you (giving you access to sessions), to meet legal obligations (e.g. tax records), and for our legitimate interest in running and improving WeDance - always balanced against your rights.
friends' emails
if you enter a friend's email to buy them a ticket, we use it only to invite them to create an account and attend that session. please only enter emails of people who are happy to hear from us.
analytics & session replay
we use Amplitude (EU data region) to understand how people use WeDance and to improve it. this includes autocapture of interactions (pages viewed, clicks, and similar events) and session replay, which records a reconstruction of your interactions with our pages (not your camera or microphone - there is no video in WeDance). Amplitude processes this data on our behalf and may use cookies or similar technologies and collect technical data such as device, browser, and approximate location derived from your IP. we do not sell your data.
advertising & the Meta (Facebook) pixel
we use the Meta pixel and Meta's advertising cookies/SDK (from Meta Platforms Ireland) to measure our ads and to reach people who may be interested in WeDance - for example on Facebook and Instagram. the pixel can record actions such as visiting a page, starting checkout, or buying, and may share a hashed identifier (like your email) with Meta so we can measure results and build audiences. this is done with your consent where the law requires it, and you can withdraw consent at any time (see “your choices” below). you can also control ad personalisation in your Facebook/Instagram settings. we do not sell your data.
cookies & similar technologies
we use cookies (and similar storage) that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in; analytics cookies/identifiers set by Amplitude; and advertising cookies/identifiers set by Meta as described above. where required, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential (analytics and advertising) cookies.
your choices
you can withdraw or change your cookie consent at any time via the cookie settings on the site, and manage ad personalisation in your Facebook/Instagram account. blocking non-essential cookies won't stop you from joining a dance.
how long we keep it
we keep account and purchase data while your account is active and as long as the law requires (for example, invoices for tax). you can ask us to delete the rest at any time.
your rights (GDPR)
you can request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your personal data, and object to or restrict certain processing. email us and we'll act within the legal timeframe. you may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
changes
we may update this policy; material changes will be notified by email or on the site.
